Our Journey

The first year we tried naturally of course assuming that everything would be okay because we are both young it couldn’t be an issue. Month after month we had nothing and I felt that something must be wrong. So we decided to get my hubby’s sperm checked.

My gynecologist at the time requested a sperm analysis. He advised me that everything looked fine to just continue trying, which we did for the next 6 months.

Still nothing!!! We believed maybe it’s time to go get my hysterosalpingogram (HSG) since I had two abortions previously. A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is an X-ray test that looks at the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes and the area around them. It often is done for women who are having a hard time becoming pregnant (infertile). (Webmd.com) My exam came back great both tubes were open. The examiner did recommend that it might boost up our chances of getting pregnant the next few months after this exam. That gave me more hope and excitement, although, it still didn’t work.

At this point it was time to see a specialist and that’s what we did. I couldn’t wait for my appointment with the specialist to hear something at least something. As I met with the doctor I show him our results he immediately told me my husband had a very low sperm count and the only way we would ever get pregnant is through IUI or IVF.

Of course that wasn’t the news we wanted to hear but it was a step closer to us finding out what we needed to do next.

My husband and I choose to do IUI first. So I got ready for my first cycle, I was on 50mg of clomid and a trigger shot.

First cycle failed. Second and third cycles were the same thing a failure. L Being so disappoint we decided to take a break for about a year from all the doctors. Especially since we were in process of moving I didn’t want it to be more stressful on my body.

Few months after we moved we agreed to find a different specialist for a second opinion, who is our current doctor. He is wonderful and more understand. That was something that we both needed.

I was super excited to do IVF, however, I couldn’t believe what women have to go through with all the medicine. My first IVF cycle was a fresh. I had 21 eggs retrieved and 8 eggs frozen with one transfer, which is pretty good.

First cycle I did get pregnant, however, it ended up with early miscarriage.
